Did you know that when we think of something our brains are emitting the same chemical it would emit if we were actually experiencing it? That a mere negative thought can raise our heart rate? Why then, would we spend another minute on a negative thought?
Instead of obsessing over self-perceived flaws or negative self-talk, focus on how amazing you are, how amazing your body is, what you and your body can do. Instead of using words like, “I can’t...I won’t...I’m not”, choose to say “I can...I will...I am!” When you think you can’t do something because you think you won’t be able to do it...try it, do it anyway and prove it to yourself that you can and will do it! Empower yourself through positive thoughts and then act upon them.

My New Sport!
After retiring from competitive fitness and physique shows this past fall I knew it wouldn’t be long before I would be yearning for a new fitness challenge.
Aside from the physical rewards that I get from training, it is a huge emotional outlet for me which keeps me mentally fit and gives me the balance I need while juggling my roles as Mom, wife and coach. Since the first of the year I’ve kicked around a few ideas such as master’s track, martial arts and obstacle racing. Finally, I decided on my new sport...Boxing!
I started private sessions with a professional boxing coach who is originally from Chicago and apart from having been a competitive boxer himself, he has coached many amateur, olympic and professional boxers. The training is intense and challenging and I absolutely love it! My goal is to be in the best shape of my life when I hit my 40th Birthday this fall! I have to mention that during our last couple of sessions he’s asked me repeatedly if I’m going to compete! Funny, I could never imagine me in a boxing match, but you never know.
