One Fit Momma!

Genia is 31 years young and after the birth of her beautiful daughter Samantha, she has completely transformed her body and is more fit and healthy than ever before! I would like to commend Genia on being such an inspiration to all women, especially Moms! Read her diary…

RGF: How long have you been training?

Genia: I’ve been training with Liza for the past 5 years.

RGF: After how long was it that you noticed a measurable difference?

Genia: Within the first 6 months.

RGF: Have you ever hit a plateau and how did you get past it?

Genia: Yes, after the first year.  Liza tightened up my diet plan and encouraged me to start cardio. I had never wanted to do cardio and Liza explained to me that it was necessary if I wanted to continue to change my body. So I finally started cardio on a regular basis and what a difference that made!

RGF: In the midst of the past couple of years you became pregnant and now have a beautiful daughter. Did you train while you were pregnant? How did this affect your delivery and recovery?

Genia: I did train while I was pregnant and it was the best thing that I could have ever done.  Liza was knowledgeable in pre-natal exercises and I trained up until my daughter was born. Without warning, she was born eight weeks early! Although this was an emergency situation, Samantha and I recovered without the typical complications that could have occurred. The doctors and nurses attribute this to me being so fit and healthy. Because I trained throughout my pregnancy, I was able to bounce back from my emergency c-section very quickly.

RGF: What have been some of your challenges while training? How did you overcome them?

Genia: Some of the challenges that I have encountered are the temptations of “bad” foods and sometimes just being lazy and not wanting to work out.  But I have a goal to live a healthy life and be fit and be a good role model for my daughter and that has kept me very motivated and in the gym.

RGF: In the past few months you have made an incredible transformation in your physique. What led you into this transformation and what goals did you set for yourself?

Genia: Liza offered her clients a 12-week transformation challenge sponsored by Tight Curves and I jumped on it. It was a great motivator.  My sister also signed on and it was great to share the experience with her. I thought it would help me get rid of those lasts few pounds that I had been carrying around since my pregnancy.  The only goal I had was to push my self as far as I could go to really try and win the challenge. I have always been competitive.

RGF:  What part of your training regimen do you think played the most important role in your transformation?

Genia:  Sticking to my meal plan and getting in my cardio. As a mom it is challenging to get all your meals in, but I did it!  Cardio has always been one of the hardest parts for me, but made such a difference in my overall health and physique.  I went beyond my goals; I never thought I could be this fit and have this body after having a baby.  This is the best I have looked since I was in high school.

RGF:  Did you reach your goals?

Genia:  I went beyond my goals! I never thought I could be this fit and have this body after having a baby. This is the best I have looked since I was in high school! I finished in the Top 5 in the transformation challenge! And I still can’t believe I entered a Bikini Contest!

RGF: How do you feel physically and emotionally after having this experience?

Genia:  This has been such a positive experience for and my family, I feel great and I look great.  I have more confidence than I have ever had in my life and I feel like it has made me a better mom.  I can pass on my positive experiences on to my daughter as she grows and will teach her how to be healthy.

RGF:  What effect does your lifestyle have on your family? Friends?

Genia: As a family we are eating healthier and plan to keep it up so my husband and I can be around for a long time for our children.  My friends have witnessed my transformation and have been asking for advice and tips to help them change their lives after watching me do it. It is very rewarding to inspire other women!
