Family Fit Tips

Exercise is just as important for children as it is for adults. In fact when it comes to establishing healthy habits, the earlier you start teaching children the better the results will be.

You do not need startling statistics to see that the amount of children that are overweight and obese is staggering. Just take a look around you.

Most blame it on the “computer age”.  I am sure there are plenty of excuses on why kids are overweight; however there are just as many solutions….. the best one is to be a role model and lead by example!

Play together! Don’t just send your child outside to play, go out and play with them.

Watch how their little faces light up because you want to play with them. Not only are you helping them become active and make there body stronger, you are sharing quality time with them that they will never forget!

Need some suggestions on what to play?

Think “old school” games.  Games such as hopscotch, tag, jump rope, frisbee and basketball are all games that families can play together. You will have your kids, hopping, skipping, and running off so many calories while having a blast at the same time.

These games are great for building strength, improving coordination, balance and so much fun!

Remember children did not ask to be born. Children do not have a choice in being healthy, it is their birth right.  They need to be taught how to make healthy choices to take care of their bodies. Lead by example.
