Did You Know?
3 Simple Ways to Stay True to Your Meal Plan
So you’ve made a conscious commitment to slim your waistline once and for all. With a written plan in hand, you’re fired up and off to the races. Ready…set…NOT! What happened? Life happens, that’s what. There will be plenty of times when schedules and routines are anything but, and while you may have the best intentions you can still fall prey to overeating traps. Next time “life” trips you up save your efforts and your waistline by following these simple steps.
The Problem: Morning Rush.
You know you should be eating breakfast before running out of the door to start your day, but who has the time to make breakfast? So you reach for a sugary oversized calorie packed muffin to eat in the car or skip breakfast all together. Skipping breakfast will only tempt you to overeat later!
The Solution: Morning Glory.
Wake up and head right to the kitchen. Drop a whole wheat English muffin in the toaster. Spread peanut butter on it and take bites in between getting dressed, doing your hair and make-up or packing your kids lunch. It’s nutritious, it will energize you and kick starts your metabolism for the day!
The Problem: Fast Food Melt Down.
Running a quick errand on lunch break. You get caught in traffic. The post office line is wicked long. Everything is taking much longer than what you thought and now you are starving. You pass a fast food drive-thru at every block and finally surrender to your hunger. You devour a double cheeseburger and fries.
The Solution: Shake it off.
Always carry a serving of protein powder with you either in your purse or compartment in your car for life’s little wrenches. If you don’t have single serving packets, store a serving in a ziploc bag. Just add water and shake. Protein shakes and protein bars are quick and convenient meal options that will hold you over until you can have your next healthy meal.
The Problem: Hit A Brick Wall.
It’s a couple hours after lunch and you are feeling tired and losing steam fast. The vending machine is just down the hall and calling your name, BUT there is nothing healthy about most vending machines.
The Solution: Get A Little Fruity and Nutty.
Keep a single serving of raw nuts in your office or desk. A healthy portion is ¼ cup. Pair it up with a single serving of dried fruit but beware and read the label to avoid packages with “added sugar”. This fruit and nut combination will rev your engine back up in no time.
